Jim is an experienced lawyer with broad experience in a variety of areas, the last several years primarily in bankruptcy.  In the past, he handled personal injury, criminal defense and family law including dissolution and custody issues.  Jim has received numerous awards from Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota and in 1991 received the Pro Bono Public Attorney award from the Minnesota Legal Services Coalition.

Jim was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota but attended high school in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  After graduating from Moorhead State College in 1969 and serving a stint in the Army, he attended Hamline School of Law from which he graduated in 1976.  Jim was employed at the Veterans Administration in St. Paul, Minnesota while attending law school but eventually moved to Detroit Lakes and began private practice in 1978.  Jim is licensed to practice in Minnesota and is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Jim has always been active in the community.  He has been a Jaycee Water Carnival Admiral in addition to being a past president of both the Kiwanis Club and the Becker County Bar Association.  Twice, Jim has also been recognized as employer of the year.  Jim has two children, three step-children and three grandchildren to date.
           
Jim and his wife, Marnie, enjoy a wide range of interests including being outdoors, hiking and traveling.  Jim enjoys various forms of hunting in the fall.  Marnie has a Masters degree in nursing and is currently the Director of Nurses at Perham Living Center in Perham, Minnesota.

                              
Richard E. ZieglerRichard E. Ziegler 

Rich was born and raised in the Frazee Minnesota area and graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1985.  Rich then attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1988.  Thereafter, he completed a Judicial Clerkship with the Honorable Tim Baland -- a District Court Judge serving in the Seventh Judicial District of Minnesota.  Rich is licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota and has practiced in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota since 1990.

Rich is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and has served as the Becker County Bar Association President.  He is also a former member of the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association.

Rich is an experienced trial lawyer with a variety of areas of practice.  He primarily focuses in the areas of family law, criminal defense (ranging anywhere from traffic offense to homicide cases) and personal injury law.  He has additional experience in civil Appellate Court practice.

Outside of the practice of law, Rich has been a member of the Detroit Lakes Jaycees.  He has been a past president of both the Kiwanis in Detroit Lakes and the United Way of Becker County.  He has also served on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council.  Rich is a Frazee Lions Club member, a former officer for the Frazee Community Club and is currently serving his second four year term as a School Board Member for the Frazee-Vergas School District.

Rich enjoys hunting and ice fishing.  He is an avid sports fan for all Minnesota teams.  Rich and his wife, Mary Lynn, a probation officer, have raised two children.


Joshua E. HaugenJoshua E. Haugen 

Josh was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota.  Upon graduating from high school, Josh enlisted and served three years of active duty in the United States Army.  Josh was a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  After completing his enlistment term, Josh returned home to Fargo and attended North Dakota State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Josh then worked at a bank for three years before attending law school at the University of North Dakota.  During law school, Josh also interned with Legal Services of North Dakota.

Josh is licensed to practice law in the state of Minnesota and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.  Josh is a member of the Becker County Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
           
In Josh's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and child, golfing and listening to music.
